Brenham 2015

Growing up I suppose I didn't think very much about our family traditions. There were just things we did, just because. As I've grown older, I've realized how much those traditions mean to me. Especially in conversations with Aaron, when we're discussing plans for a holiday. I typically start out with, "We always do things this way, so..."  Those books we always read during Advent. Annual camping trips. Birthday celebrations. All of the other random things that are our family. That surprise party we try to have for Mom every other year or so (you know, the one that Dad always accidentally tells about?) Park trips, read-alouds, walks, all of the little things that make up a family culture. And, I'm grateful. Because valuing those traditions inspires me to continue the tradition of the traditions...

One of my favorite of our family traditions is the annual trip to Brenham in the spring - bluebonnet season, to be exact. :) We bring a picnic, the guys play football, we take pictures, and spend the day together. It's always a special time, and this year was no exception. :) This year was the first grand baby's first year to come, so she pretty much stole the show. ;)

How many people does it take to make a baby smile?

'Til next year!
